Mandya Teacher Murder Case: Main Accused Arrested After 30 Hours of Intense Search
Mandya police successfully apprehended the main suspect in the murder of a school teacher, resolving the case after an intense 30-hour search. The accused, Nitish, was found and arrested in Hospete, having been on the run since the discovery of the teacher’s lifeless body in an isolated place in Melukote, Mandya district.
The victim, Deepika,28, a resident of Manikyanahalli in Pandavpur, went missing on January 20. She had left home, informing her husband Lokesh that she was going to school but never returned. Concerned, Lokesh filed a missing person complaint with the police. Two days later, Deepika’s body was discovered at foothill buried in a pit.
Nitish, known to the victim and her family as he used to visit and referred to Deepika as his sister, has been identified as the prime suspect. The motive behind the murder remains unclear. Nitish allegedly committed the crime and returned home, staying in the village until the police uncovered the victim’s body. Subsequently, he fled the village, prompting an extensive police search operation.
The investigation is considering various angles, and the motive for the murder is yet to be determined. There are suggestions that the accused may have had an infatuation with the victim, although this remains unconfirmed. The police continue their efforts to establish the complete circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
